Director of Development
So often at Loreto Normanhurst we speak of celebration of community and Open Day last Saturday was truly a testament to this. Students and staff provided a wonderful snapshot of life at Loreto Normanhurst – mission, learning, pastoral, ex-curricular – all beautifully articulated and presented to the many families who visited on Open Day.
We are grateful to our parents who give of their time so generously to run the BBQ, the Cake Stall and the Devonshire Teas. The funds raised by these activities are directed to projects around the school which are of benefit to all students. Thank you to the Ex-students’ Association Executive who provide a welcoming presence and who graciously share stories from their own school days at Loreto Normanhurst. Thank you to the Loreto community for your contribution to the joyful spirit which is reflected on Open Day and indeed every day in our community.
In our 120th year celebrations in 2017, we undertook the restoration of the Reception Room in recognition and appreciation of the mission and commitment of the Loreto Sisters at Normanhurst. We are delighted with the completed work which preserves our past and allows us to create new memories to be cherished by future generations. Last year we invited the parent community to financially support this project and we are very grateful for the gifts we received. If you would still like to contribute to this project please contact me via email. I will be delighted to organise a visit to the Reception Room and discuss further details with you.
On 18-20 May this year, we will host Loreto Federation 2018 at the school. Federation is an Australia-wide gathering of Loreto ex-students, parents and friends who come together for an engaging weekend, this year built around the theme of ‘Be the Change’. Inspiring speakers including Senator Malarndirri McCarthy, Former NSW Premier The Hon Kristina Keneally, Jenny Brockie, Stephanie Lorenzo and Michelle Leonard to name a few, will share the story of their journeys and each will bring their unique perspective to the theme. Please take the time to read the program and consider registering for both you and your daughter.
Before the end of Term One we look forward to meeting with you at one or more of the following – Primary Parent Dinner, Year 7 Family Dinner and the City Country Mothers’ Lunch. At each of these events you will be warmly welcomed and will enjoy the friendship and connection of the Loreto Normanhurst community.
