Careers Christmas Cheer
We’re all looking forward to the holidays! With such a long break it is a great opportunity to learn about work, potential jobs and a bit about you as well! Here’s a few careers ideas you might like to consider:
Work Exploration
Find out about the world of work. You could consider doing some work experience or shadowing someone at work for a day or two. This is learning from the real world and you can learn a lot about what you might be interested in.
Consider a part time job
There are some great resources on the Careers Canvas page to get you started with a resume and cover letter.
Create your own part time job
Dog walking, babysitting, gardening, other odd jobs are a great way to create your own working opportunities. Consider your neighbours, relatives, church, and friends who might need a babysitter or dog walker during the holidays.
Volunteer Work or Community Service
Many organisations need extra volunteers at this time so consider trying something completely different and lending a hand. You can find out a lot about yourself, meet some interesting people and learn about work whilst helping others.
Workshops
Universities run information sessions and workshops during the school holidays. Please note registration is usually required and there may be a cost for some workshops.
