Making the right decision for YOU

“When most people hear about TAFE they automatically think “dropout” and people who don’t want to go to university go to TAFE. Well, I can assure you that is not the case! TAFE is another form of learning AND can also count towards your final HSC mark which can assist in achieving the ATAR you would like to guarantee you a spot at university after graduating.

TAFE was one of the best decisions I have made in regards to my learning and HSC. It has been a great break away from school and also a great opportunity to interact with new and different people outside the Loreto Community. I am currently studying Business Services from 2pm-6pm every Tuesday, and I can’t fault it in any way. All assignments are completed within the class time and the support throughout the course from many different teachers is superb. I look back to when I was selecting my HSC units and I am so glad that I chose to go to TAFE!

At the end of 2017 I will complete my TVET units with a Certificate II in Business Services and I couldn’t be happier.”

Diella Pirina – Year 12
Business Services

“I have been studying Tourism, Travel and Events for the past two years. This has been such a great learning experience for me.  I have learnt how to create events, the characteristics of events, I’ve been able to host an event and I’ve learnt about tourism in Australia. Not only have I been able to be involved in such a great opportunity, I have also participated at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in 2016 and 2017. Going to TAFE is definitely one of the best choices I have made and I definitely recommend it.”

Jessica Paulson – Year 12
Tourism, Travel & Events

Discover your talents and build practical skills whilst still at school

TVET (TAFE-delivered Vocational Education and Training) is a great way for you to discover your hidden talents and abilities as well as build practical, industry focussed skills needed for work and further study while you’re still at school.

There is a wide range of TVET courses available that can provide a real sense of what work in that industry is actually like. Currently at Loreto Normanhurst we have students studying Child Care, Nursing, Business Services, Events & Tourism and Entertainment.  Work placement is a major component of many TVET courses, giving students the chance to put newly gained skills into practice. The decisions you make now about study and your life after school can open doors to exciting new possibilities.  If you would like further information about TVET opportunities, please contact the Careers office on 9473 7424 or email.

Students are most welcome to book a time to speak to a Careers Advisor – we welcome all girls in all years.

Students are most welcome to drop in with their diaries to book a meeting or send an email indicating their availability.  We are open before and after school and during lunch time.
