Important University Admissions Centre (UAC) changes for 2018
There are some important changes to next year’s admissions for current Year 12 students:
- The maximum number of preferences will now be five (not nine as previously).
- There will be an offer round after ATAR release and before Christmas.
- There will be an offer round in mid-January but no ‘Main Round’.
- Cut-offs will be published for the pre-Christmas round and the mid-January round.
These changes simplify the admissions process and ensure that offers are made in a timely manner.
The reduction in the number of preferences streamlines the process, while still allowing students plenty of choice. In the previous system, many students felt they should ‘fill up’ all nine preferences, however, research shows that very few offers were made to preferences six to nine. With five preferences, students will still be able to change their preferences for each of the offer rounds, thus choosing up to five courses per round.

Would you like to make an appointment with a Careers Advisor?
We welcome all students from all year groups.
Anyone can make an appointment with a careers advisor. We are usually in the office – located in the LRC – before and after school and at recess and lunch. Students are most welcome to drop in but at times we can be busy, so the best thing to do is to send an email indicating your availability or drop in with your diary to schedule a time.
Please note the new email address: careers@loretonh.nsw.edu.au. For any enquiries or to make an appointment please email us.
