Students from Loreto Normanhurst explore a rewarding career in rural health
On 22 May, some of our students attended NSW Rural Doctors Network’s (RDN) inaugural Rural Health Careers Forum at Pymble Ladies’ College.
Employers, students and health professionals showcased the many benefits of a career in rural health. Registered Nurse and guest speaker at the Forum, Phillipa Kensit shared her passion for rural and remote health.
“Rural and remote health provides an extremely unique and diverse experience of health care with an on the ground, community-centred approach to health and wellbeing.”
RDN CEO Richard Colbran said the Forum had a particular focus on students from rural areas who are boarding at Sydney schools.
“We want to encourage boarders to consider bringing their skills ‘home’ to benefit their local community and, through the Forum, showcase to all students the vast range of rural health careers available and how beneficial working in rural NSW can be,” he said.
RDN is hosting a follow up Facebook Live Q&A for parents and students to ask questions about working in rural health.
