Thoughts of becoming a Veterinarian but not studying Mathematics (therefore would not be eligible for entry into the double degree of B Veterinary Biology/D Veterinary Medicine). Students should keep an eye on their website for further information over the next few months regarding the maths prerequisite for 2020 entry
Important points to factor in for Veterinarian study:
There are no transfers available into the double degree of B Veterinary Biology/D Veterinary Medicine, only direct entry. Student would need to apply for graduate entry into the D Veterinary Medicine (DMV) following completion of her Bachelor’s degree. Also students should check the “admission requirements” section for full details. Graduate entry into the DVM degree has a lot of prerequisites in terms of prior study, so options may be (in the case of NO Mathematics);
- Apply for a B Liberal Arts and Science (BLAS) (no mathematics prerequisite, ATAR 70) and ensure that you study the required units in her undergraduate degree and satisfies all other admission requirements (this should be done with the advice of an academic adviser and by consulting the prerequisites for the DMV listed on the website)
- Or study one year of the BLAS, complete the necessary mathematics unit and then apply to transfer into the Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Animal and Veterinary Bioscience) as an undergraduate degree which will be excellent preparation for graduate entry but again, the student should ensure she is studying the correct units with an academic adviser.
