Appointment of Principal 2019

Appointment of Principal 2019

A message from Mr Andrew Quoyle, Chair, Loreto Normanhurst Board

“On behalf of the Loreto Normanhurst School Board and Loreto Ministries Limited, I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Marina Ugonotti to the position of Principal of Loreto Normanhurst commencing in January 2019. The position attracted a large number of very experienced applicants and in taking over as Principal, Marina enjoys the unanimous support of the School Board.

Our own experience of Marina, the person and the school leader, as well as the testimony of her referees, confirms that she will provide the warm, generous and strategic leadership Loreto Normanhurst needs to capitalise on the growth and stability we currently enjoy. Under her steady leadership the school will continue to thrive and meet the needs of the community into the 21st Century.

Please join me in congratulating Marina on her appointment. The School Board looks forward with enthusiasm to working with her to provide an excellent education for the young women of Loreto Normanhurst.”

A message from Ms Marina Ugonotti, Deputy Principal and Principal-Elect for 2019

“I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love that I have received from our community.

I would like to acknowledge our current Principal, Ms Watkins whose leadership of this community has been steadfast, loving and inspirational. I am honoured to follow her as Principal of Loreto Normanhurst.

I am humbled, thrilled and excited to commence as Loreto Normanhurst Principal in 2019.

Education is the key to opening the door of justice. The education of women is fundamental to achieving peace and justice in our families, society and world. Education breaks poverty, it challenges structures which promote injustice, it gives way to truth, and it frees the individual.

A Loreto education provides a reflective way of knowing; of growing in relationship with God and others; of caring for and forming the whole person. These are some of the reasons why I answered a call to serve by teaching girls and in recent years by leading our community.

When Ms Watkins announced that she was leaving us at the end of next year, I found myself contemplating what was stirring within me more deeply and I discerned that I had more to contribute by serving this community through the role of Principal.

I am excited to be leading a community that loves learning and that develops confident, independent women of integrity ready to take their place in our world, and so I look forward to leading you and Loreto Normanhurst into the next chapter of its rich story.

I ask that you keep me in your prayers and know that I will continue to hold you all in mine.”
