NSW All Schools Cross Country

We had three students in action, representing CIS at the NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships at Eastern Creek last Friday. All three of them ran fantastically, with Neve Tierney (Year 5) finishing 21st in the 11s, Georgia Arcus (Year 8) finished 15th in the 12s/13s and Sarah Playford (Year 12) coming home 10th in the 17s division. Stellar efforts girls!

 Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards

We have two participants who have successfully completed their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards this week. Congratulations to Ellen Parker (Year 12) and Victoria Pengilly (Year 12) who have both shown the dedication and perseverance needed to complete the Award at the Gold level. Well done ladies!

CIS Primary Netball

Huge congratulations to Breanna Harris (Year 6) who had a great time at the CIS Championships; so good, in fact that she’s been selected in the CIS Squad to compete at the NSW PSSA Championships later this term! Well done, Breanna and best of luck!

School Tennis Championships

The School Tennis Championships preliminary rounds were held this week with the singles taking place on Wednesday and the doubles on Thursday.

There was some fantastic tennis played and our finalists have been decided:

  • In the singles, Faith Zalm (Year 9) will play off against Annabelle Gohl (Year 7)
  • In the doubles, Faith and Annabelle will combine to face off against Mya-Rose San Diego (Year 9) and Emma Davies (Year 9).

Good luck to those girls in the finals!

Year 9 at Far North Queensland

With our Year 9 cohort about to undertake their annual adventure north, please note the impact this may have on your sport commitments over the next few weeks.

29th July: all students are in Sydney and are expected to be in attendance at their games as per usual.

5th August: with all Year 9 absent, where teams may consist of a mix of Year 8 and Year 9 players, we will look to create composite teams so Year 8 girls do not miss out on their fixture that weekend. All students involved will be emailed at the start of the week to inform them of their updated team for that weekend and the location and time of their game.

12th August: with the Year 9 cohort flying back in on Friday, I know they’ll all be tired and looking forward to sleeping in their own bed, however all sport will run as per schedule on that Saturday. All students are expected to be in attendance.

State & National level representatives

You will have received an email from Sport this week asking for recognition for our elite-level athletes.  As part of our celebration of 120 years of Loreto, the Sport Department are seeking to recognise  any student that has represented either NSW or competed at a National level in their chosen sport in the past 12 months.

This may include but is not limited to:

– Competing in a National Championship or Australian Titles event

– Being selected for an open or age-group NSW or Australian squad

If your daughter meets the above criteria, please email sport@loretonh.nsw.edu.au with a short summary of her representative honours and, if possible, any photos of her competing. If you are unsure if your daughter meets the criteria, or would like any more information, please don’t hesitate to email me for clarification.

Photos

We love seeing photos of our girls enjoying sport, but unfortunately we can’t be everywhere at once. If you’re out and about over the weekend at your daughter’s fixtures, please send through any snaps you get to sport@loretonh.nsw.edu.au.

If you’re on Twitter, you can follow us at @loretonhsport – tweet us and use the hashtag #LetsGoLoreto and we’ll retweet as many as we can!
