The Magic of the Cup continues! What a heart stopper! After a very tense   final two minutes of football, which hasn’t been seen at Loreto for quite a while, the 1st XI has qualified for the semifinals of the NSW CIS Cup with a 4-3 win over The Illawarra Grammar School! What a sensational effort from the squad and big thanks to Coach Steve Charters and Miss Vicki Linton for their guidance throughout the season! On to the semis – two games to go…

In representative news, good luck to Victoria Martin (Year 11) and Eloise Hansen (Year 9) who will be representing IGSSA at the NSW CIS Championships at Valentine Sports Park on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

IGSSA Cross Country Results

It was a frosty morning in Frensham last Friday but our runners posted some red hot times, with some fantastic individual and team results from the IGSSA Cross Country Championships.

Georgia Arcus (Year 8) and Arabella Price (Year 7) came 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 13s age group. Charlotte Ryan (Year 10), came 3rd in the 16s, and Sarah Playford (Year 12), came 4th in the 17s, which are also excellent results. Our 16s team placed third overall and our 13s team  first, with the eight  girls in that division finishing 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 17th, 21st, 25th, 48th and 64th from a field of 161 girls – a tremendous overall effort. Big congratulations to all competitors and good luck to all the runners who have qualified to represent IGSSA at the CIS Carnival.

Touch Football

We have had a number of girls selected into IGSSA Touch Football squads this week. Congratulations to Elizabeth Bauer (Year 11), Tatum Bird (Year 11), Kiarra Williams-Browne (Year 11), Lauren Marshall (Year 11) and Jessica Drummond (Year 11) for their selection into the IGSSA 18 and Under Touch Football squad. We also congratulate Emma Vandervelde (Year 9) and Zoe Warland (Year 10) for their selection into the IGSSA 15 and Under Touch Football squad. I’m sure they will do us all proud at their respective CIS Championships later this month.

All Schools Swimming and Diving

We wished for good results and we got them and more! Tatiana Chapman (Year 10) dove fantastically, finishing 2nd in the 3m springboard and 3rd in the platform – she will compete for NSW at the National Championships later this year. Great results also for Breanna Ivankovic (Year 10), who came 5th in the 200m butterfly and Abby Hartshorne (Year 9) who came 7th in the same event and backed up with an 8th in the 400 individual medley. Top efforts all round girls!

Secondary Athletics – Field Events

As you are aware, our Secondary Athletics Carnival program was heavily modified due to the wet weather across Term 1. As a result of the weather, we were unable to run our pre-carnival field event trials at the school as scheduled. We have now rescheduled these trials for May 23rd/24th/25th from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. All students have received an email with the schedule of events and divisions for trials and their respective dates. If your daughter is unable to trial on one of the above afternoons there will be makeup trials held the following week, with a schedule for those trials to be released on Friday 26th May.
