Around the grounds

We can’t seem to catch a break with Term 1 sport so far this year, and it looks like we’re in for another disjointed day tomorrow. The school oval is closed today and will remain closed over the weekend, so all IGSSA softball and IPSHA football games will be cancelled. The tennis courts will be assessed tomorrow morning and a call will be made then.

As always, the first port of call for all wet weather inquiries should be the IGSSA and IPSHA wet weather sites.

IGSSA: http://www.ahigs.nsw.edu.au/IGSSA/WetWeatherInformation.aspx

IPSHA: http://blinkm.co/IPSHA/

We will also update our Sport Twitter and Facebook pages throughout the morning, however the most up-to-date sources of information will always be the IGSSA & IPSHA wet weather sites.

Please note that once a venue has been closed, it will not reopen for the remainder of the day, so there is no need to check back in once a venue is listed as closed.

It’s also important to note that whilst it may be hailing in your street, fixtures across Sydney will be subject to different weather conditions so please always check the wet weather sites for the current playing conditions. Conveners at each venue will always try to make the decision as early as possible, and we appreciate it can be frustrating driving through Sydney traffic only to be told on arrival that your game is cancelled, however it is an unfortunate necessity as our sporting bodies will always do whatever they can to provide sporting fixtures for our girls.

IGSSA & IPSHA Swimming & Diving Carnivals

On Tuesday 7th March, we’ll be sending our Primary Swim Squad to the IPSHA Swimming & Diving Carnival at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre. We wish all those girls the best of luck, some of whom it will be their first time representing Loreto on an IPSHA stage.

Two days later, we’ll be back at it with the Secondary Squad for the IGSSA Swimming & Diving Carnival, accompanied by the best cheer squad in the land – our year 7 girls! We have selected a super-fast squad this year and they’ve got last year’s 5th overall placing in their sights. We’ve also grown our Diving team by 100% with Alexa Yu joining Tatiana Chapman to contest the Diving competition on Thursday followed by CIS trials later in the month.

There will be a full squad training session for all girls involved in the IGSSA and IPSHA teams on Monday morning from 6:45am, followed by a squad breakfast held in the Gym Foyer.

Parent Information Evening about Sport Review

Last Tuesday night, the school hosted an information night for parents and presented the findings of the Sport Review. Thank you to all the parents who attended and contributed with their questions and feedback after the event. We look forward to continuing this process and getting our teeth into the 4 core issues that we’ve identified for the review.
P.s. check out our mini-film entitled “Who is a Loreto Sports Girl?” here…

Term 2 Activity Nominations

Term 2 Activities Programs nominations are still open – they will close on Friday 10th March. These programs are open to all girls, regardless of experience or ability and are a fantastic way for the girls to try something new or to continue building a skill. Please note that despite our activities program running year round, girls need to nominate for each new term if they wish to continue in an activity.

We love seeing photos of our girls enjoying sport, but unfortunately we can’t be everywhere at once. If you’re out and about over the weekend at your daughter’s fixtures, please send through any snaps you get to sport@loretonh.nsw.edu.au.
