Find out where joy resides, and give it a voice far beyond singing. For to miss the joy is to miss it all.

– Robert Louis Stevenson

Years 5 and 6 have returned refreshed and rejuvenated following two days of adventure in the beautiful surrounds of Broken Bay. They have enjoyed an array of exciting experiences including; archery, designing and constructing a water safe raft and canoeing. They also undertook a low ropes course and witnessed a glorious sunrise. The girls enjoyed an afternoon marine walk where our guide told us about the historical relevance of the beautiful rock formations. The night time entertainment consisted of a disco where not only the girls but also the teachers showed off their fancy footwork.

Camp provides a variety of experiences for the girls and builds important life skills such as self-awareness, building positive relationships, working as part of a team and the ability to meet challenges head on. It also affords the opportunity for the girls and teachers to get to know each other in a different context. In addition, it offers the perfect occasion to grow not only the individual but also the sense of belonging and connectedness to the Loreto Normanhurst community.

It was wonderful to hear the girls talking about how much fun they were having and how much they had learned about themselves. As one student said, ‘I stepped out of my comfort zone and did something new.’ It was such a delight to share in this experience with the girls and to witness the care and compassion with which they treated each other. I’m sure parents have enjoyed hearing all about their adventures since their return.

Congratulations to Mia Hartley who has gained selection for the State Age 12 Hills Netball Team. Mia will be playing Goal Defence and Wing Defence. Well done Mia!
