The City Country Fathers’ Weekend was a great success! Numbers were small but a wonderful time was had by the band of fine men who travelled to the golden Hunter Valley last Friday.  We met at Harrigans Irish Pub at Pokolbin for an Irish themed dinner and lively discussion. On Saturday we took in the sights of the valley, visited two leading wineries and then undertook that rarest of activities –  we relaxed!   A leisurely wine tasting in the magnificent autumn sun allowed us to put the hustle and bustle of Sydney behind us.

A hearty lunch at a local brewery ensued before the Dads were hosted by the good people at Brokenwood Wineries, who the Dads  impressed so much that they donated some items for upcoming raffles!

The evening took us to the outstanding Cellar Restaurant for a boundless banquet and most importantly an intimate after-dinner speech by Ralph and Kathy Kelly from the Kelly Foundation.  They shared their heartbreaking story of loss in their family and their uplifting efforts to keep young people safe at night in inner Sydney and free from bullying through the Take Kare and Stay Kind  Foundations. We  have undertaken to support them going forward.

Thank you to all those who supported this event. It was a  great weekend with a great bunch of people.
