Co-Presidents’ Message

Welcome back everyone to what will be a very busy but very social Term 3 at Loreto Normanhurst. 

To kick off this term, Louise and I would just like to provide you with our reminders for key functions taking place early in Term 3: 

 

Year 10 Parent Dinner

Friday 21 July 2017 – 6:30pm

Pennant Hills Golf Club, Cnr Copeland Road & Burns Road South, Beecroft

We are looking forward to seeing lots of Year 10 Parents at the Pennant Hills Golf Club at 6:30pm to enjoy dinner together, while your daughters attend their Dinner Dance.

 

Parent Association Meeting: Curran theatre

Wednesday 26 July 2017 – 7:30pm

Please come along to hear an update from Ms Marina Ugonotti, Deputy Principal, on key plans and activities taking place across the school during Term 3, and understand a little bit more about the activities run by the Parent Association of Loreto (PAL) throughout the term.  The meeting will take place on Wednesday 26 July from 7.30pm in the Curran Theatre. We look forward to seeing you there. 

 

Annual Trivia Night: gymnasium

Saturday 5 August 2017 – 7pm

‘We’re All Mad Here! ‘  Come along and join the Mad Hatter Trivia Night.  This is a wonderful opportunity to get a group of friends together and show how much trivia you do or don’t know!  Of course, don’t worry if you are not into Trivia, bring along a plate of food and a beverage to share and enjoy the laughter and conversation at your table and join in a few of the fun activities always on offer to raise funds  for our Parent Association.  Start thinking about putting a table together and join us for a fabulous evening!

Mission Lunch:  Boarders’ Dining Room

Friday 11 August 2017   – 11:30am

We are delighted to confirm our guest speaker for the 2017 Mission lunch is Ms Jo Thomson, an ex-student of Loreto Normanhurst. Jo is one of the founders of the Learning4Development organisation who provide advice and directly assist civil society organisations and governments to foster better international development practice, better partnerships and strong civil society organisations.   Jo commenced her Development career as a nurse, working in the street clinics in the slum areas of Calcutta.   Since then, Jo has worked passionately with civil society organisations and NGOs in the International Development sector for over 25 years and has held Senior Executive Positions with NGOs, working with governments and local civil society organisations in many countries within the Pacific, Asia and Africa regions.

Please save the date and gather a group of friends together to come along to this special luncheon and listen to Jo speak about her experiences and perspectives whilst enjoying a lovely meal. Book early so you do not miss out!

City/Country Mothers’ Weekend Away

FRIDAY 24 – SUNDAY 26 NOVEMBER 2017

Time to start talking about our plans and ensuring you have secured a place on the City/Country Mothers’ Weekend Away 2017.

Let us paint the picture of what this lovely weekend might look like for you:

Casual dinner and drinks on Friday evening, with a sleep in on Saturday morning (I’m in already!!).  We then have a few options to consider for the latter part of Saturday morning before we head off to Molong Farm for a very long, leisurely lunch (oh my, do we have to wait until November?).

Our bus chauffeurs will drive us out to Molong Farm, where the farm gates will be open to welcome our arrival for our lunch within a traditional farm setting. A tour of the farm will be on offer for anyone interested, a stroll through the micro-brewery (a possibility if inclined), or simply sitting and sipping wine, whilst enjoying the beautiful fresh fare “from paddock to plate” that this lovely farm is renowned for. Sounds just about right, we think, for a Saturday lunch to late afternoon activity.   

After a fun filled day we will return to Orange for the evening where friends can connect if they wish, or for the busy mums to take a night off and relax with a good book and a bubble bath…where do I sign up! Whatever you fancy, it’s YOUR time out, so take some time to think about what might suit you for a Saturday evening away. 

On Sunday, after a sleep in AGAIN!  (do we have to go back home?) you may wish to take a leisurely morning walk to the historic Catholic Church for Mass if desired, with a beautiful brunch/lunch on offer to close out our weekend before we farewell this beautiful region to meander back to Sydney and back to the real world…until next time.

We now need to confirm numbers to lock in our venues and activities.  If you are definitely joining us (and we hope you are), please use the link below to register your commitment and reserve your place with a $50.00 holding deposit, which will be deducted from the overall expenses for the weekend 

We mothers deserve a treat…so book NOW and begin the countdown with us to our wonderful weekend away!

NB: This year we are organising our own accommodation. I have been advised that the weekend we have chosen might be a little busy in Orange, so I suggest you source and book your accommodation early.

 

Spring Fair 2017 – Let the Planning Begin!!

This year the Parent Association of Loreto will be hosting the biennial Spring Fair on Sunday 22 October 2017. This is a spectacular day for the Loreto Normanhurst community to come together, bond, play and raise funds for the school.

Heads up everyone, the Spring Fair Team NEEDS YOU and we still have a few roles to fill. Think about getting one or two friends to join you and tackle the role together! Below are the roles still available that can be done by a single person, a double or triple combination – the more the merrier, we would love to hear from you:  

  • Fair Sponsorship Team
  • Loreto Food Stall Coordinators  (Please click here  for more information)

An important point to note is that you will not be alone. We have detailed handover notes from prior years on what is involved and the Spring Fair team members across all areas are working together to finalise plans and activities. We would love to hear from you!
