Ku-ring-gai Youth Services

Ku-ring-gai Council   have a number of activities  to  offer young people aged 12-24 years. For more information on these fantastic events/programs please visit  their website.

 

First Aid Course

This one day course (plus pre-work) provides you with the skills to administer first aid in a variety of situations that you may face in everyday life. Participants who successfully pass this one day face-to-face course will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment in HLTAID003 Provide First Aid.

Date: Wednesday 20 April

Time: 8.45am for 9.00am start – 4.30pm

Location: Gordon Library – Meeting Room 2, 799 Pacific Highway Gordon, 2072

Cost: $90 – Course and lunch

 

Discobility 2016

This incredibly fun event is for those under 24 years of age with a disability. Their carers, friends and family members are also invited along to this non-stop dancefests. This year’s theme is ‘Hawaiian Luau’

Date: Friday 8 April

Time: 7pm till 10pm

Venue: St Ives Community Hall. Off Memorial Ave, St Ives (behind St Ives Shopping Village)

Skate Trip

You don’t have to imagine what it would be like to hit up three skate parks in one day. Why? Because that’s exactly what we are doing! The Youth Services team are taking a bus load of young people to Berowra, Cherrybrook and Galston.

Date: Wednesday 13 April

Time:   10am – 4pm

Location: Pick up from the FITZ Youth Centre, Off Memorial Ave, St Ives (behind St Ives Shopping Village)

Cost:   $5

 

Holidays @ AWOL

Our AWOL Youth Hub doors will be open these school holidays for you to come and enjoy all we have to offer. Come and be entertained by our massive range of activities.

Night Skate

NiteSk8 is back by popular demand and this year it is going to be unstoppable. Bring your deck or scooter to this once in a year opportunity to skate AT NIGHT in St Ives.

Date: Friday 22 April

Time: 4pm till 6pm(BBQ at Skate Park), 6pm till 8:30pm (Movies/games at the Fitz)

Wolfsbane Festival

Wolfsbane Festival will be both a music festival and a wellbeing festival, taking the positive vibe of a music festival, a safe and fun space for young people, and using that to create a space that encourages good mental (and physical) wellbeing.

Date: Saturday 9 April

Time: 12pm till 9pm

Venue: St Ives Showground, Model Aeroplane Arena, 450  Mona Vale Road, St Ives, 2075

Cost:

  • Pre-sale= $20

Shoreshocked 2016

Shoreshocked is a drug and alcohol free all ages event held on the Lower North Shore of Sydney Australia. The event showcases some of the best Australia has to offer in rock/alternative/indie.

Date: Saturday 16 April

Time: 10:30am till 5pm

Venue: St Leonards Park, Miller Street, North Sydney

Ku-ring-gai’s Got Talent 2016

Ku-ring-gai’s Got Talent (KGT) is an event that aims to showcase and uncover the amazing performance skills that exist amongst young people in the local community.

Dates:

  • Heat 1: Friday 13 May
  • Heat 2: Friday 20 May
  • Grand Final: Friday 27 May

Time: 6pm till 10pm

Venue: St Ives Community Hall. Off Memorial Ave, St Ives (behind St Ives Shopping Village)

Registration Fee: $30

 

Live @ the Fitz

Looking for a local music hub, were you or your band can rehearse, record or perform? The Fitz Youth Centre is where you want to be, we offer a large room for you or your band, to rehearse in comfort. Why not record that EP you have been working on or simply get out of your parents garage? Once you have your rehearsals sorted, step up to the MIC and put on your own show. See your act in lights and with the help of the Council Youth Services team get your act out there. Our fees are reasonable so why not work towards something you have always wanted.

Date: Friday nights during school term

Parent Forums 2016

Ku-ring-gai Youth Services presents a series of parent forums in collaboration with the Ku-ring-gai Youth Development Service (KYDS).

This years forums are held on the following topics and dates:-

  • Monday 14 March – Parent’s Guide to enjoying the HSC Journey
  • Monday 23 May – Getting REM: Adolescents and sleep
  • Monday 1 August – Giving Peace a Chance: Creating Family Harmony
  • Monday 24 October – Strategies for Communication Effectively with Adolescents
